Kindergarteners looked at the artwork of Piet Mondrian.  Together we noticed that each of his pieces uses only the primary colors plus black and white.  They also include shapes such as squares and rectangles.

Learning Goal: I can show vertical and horizontal lines. Because Mondrian only used vertical and horizontal lines this was a great lesson to talk about vertical and horizontal.  We used our arms to practice line directions including diagonal but when it came to our artwork we stuck to vertical and horizontal just like Mondrian.
